WorkSafe NZ review of WES

WorkSafe NZ is conducting a review of the Workplace Exposure Standards (WES).

The review is focused on a number of elements including arsenic, chromium VI and copper and the Biological Exposure Index (BEI) for arsenic.

Early indications are that the proposed levels are extremely difficult to achieve, and in some cases, possibly immeasurable.

NZTIF is working with other industry groups and technical experts to respond to the proposals.

Together we hope to achieve outcomes that are practical and reasonable, given the need to protect worker health and safety, and to ensure that the timber treatment industry can remain efficient and productive.
